HOPEWELL — The acronym will remain the same. The meaning will be quite different.
Recognizing a need to rebrand and more appropriately represent their vision for the future, as well as the people they support, officials from Ontario ARC said the letters will now represent “A Respected Choice.” In years past, the acronym stood for “Association for Retarded Citizens.”
Ann Scheetz, the agency’s executive director, said the change came after the ARC completed the most extensive strategic plan in its 62-year history. It was developed by the agency’s community partners, staff, members of the board of directors, individuals supported by the agency and community members.
