BUFFALO, N.Y. — It’s a source of support for parents who find themselves in what can be an overwhelming situation: having a child with a disability in school.
“The Parent Network of Western New York provides crucial services to parents and families who aren’t sure where to turn,” said Rep. Brian Higgins, D-26th Congressional District. And the Parent Network of WNY’s dedication to helping families has helped it secure a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to serve students in the Buffalo Public Schools. “This grant is one of only 30 awarded nationwide,” Higgins said. “These grants, I can’t begin to tell you how competitive they are, and it’s another, I think, indication underscoring the effectiveness of this program.”
