Al Sigl Community of Agencies and WXXI kick off their annual Dialogue on Disability: The Herman & Margaret Schwartz Community Series on Jan. 10.
The week’s highlight is a film that follows four adults with autism who are searching for romantic relationships. “Autism in Love,” airing at 10 p.m. Jan. 11 on WXXI-TV, is described by Tribeca Film Festival’s Arthur Ryel-Lindsey as “a relatable and winning celebration of accepting the differences in others and in ourselves.” The message of acceptance in “Autism in Love” is the basis on which the Dialogue on Disability initiative was built. The weeklong initiative, which runs Jan. 10-17, presents special programming on WXXI-TV and radio that encourages community dialogue about the lives and abilities of people with physical and intellectual disabilities and the importance of inclusion.
