NEH offers grants for preservation – Lockport Union-Sun & Journal: Community

The National Endowment for the Humanities is accepting applications for its Preservation and Access Education and Training Grant and the Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions.Past NEH grant recipients in Western New York include the Buffalo State College Art Conservation Department, People Inc.’s Museum of disABILITY History and Niagara County Community College.Preservation and Access Education and Training grants are offered to help the staff of cultural institutions gain access to training resources, so that they may gain the level of knowledge and skill needed to serve as effective agents of humanities collections. The grants also fund education for young people so they may potentially become the conservators and preservation professionals of tomorrow.The Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions can be used by museums, libraries and historical societies to improve their ability to preserve and care for humanities collections, which may include books and journals, prints and photographs, sound recordings and other media.Applications for both grants must be received by May 5.
