NCP and Aspire to thaw out at Aquarium of Niagara

Niagara Cerebral Palsy and Aspire of WNY are taking a break from the cold. From 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, a night of after-hours fun will take place at the Aquarium of Niagara, 701 Whirlpool St., Niagara Falls.

Entry to the event is a $20 donation. Proceeds from the event will help the individuals and families served by both agencies.

The event includes local wines and cider from Johnson Estates and Becker Farms, hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Everyday Gourmet, and shows featuring some of the aquarium’s stars. Attendees will have access to the gift shop and may catch a glimpse of some of the new features the aquarium is implementing as part of its renovation project.

“Guests will get to see us while we’re under construction,” said Michele Paterson, assistant supervisor of exhibits at the aquarium, “The aquarium turns 50 in 2015. We’re excited and moving toward the future, and this is a great chance for us to do that in collaborating with our community partners.”

The fundraising event is the rescheduled “Merry and Bright” event that was cancelled in November.

“We received a number of sponsorships and donations from businesses and the community despite the event’s cancellation,” said Katharine Cassens, community development coordinator at NCP. “We were able to make the holidays special for many families in Western New York, and this is our chance to celebrate that with those who showed their support in November, and with the rest of the WNY community, who are ardent supporters of our work year-round.”
